SUMMARY:Managing Blackberry Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Managing Blackberry – a new series of workshops \nDo you have blackberry on your property? As part of the SW Collaborative Blackberry Scheme the Leschenault Catchment Council (LCC) have been engaged by the Shires of Collie\, Dardanup\, Donnybrook-Balingup to help farmers control blackberry. \nLandholders are invited to join the Shire and the LCC for a second Workshop Series\, following on from the last series in August this year. This series will include a project update\, including updates from the mapping and prioritisation process conducted earlier this year; a practical demonstration of blackberry control; and discussion around steps post-control in revegetation and rehabilitation. \nThe schedule of workshops is as follows: \n\nWednesday 10th November: St Aidan’s Winery\, Ferguson Valley\nFriday 12th November: Gumnut Farm\, 253 Patstone Road\, Allanson\nThursday 18th November: Preston River Foreshore\, Donnybrook\n\nAll workshops will run from 10am-1.30pm and include morning tea on arrival and lunch to finish off. Reserve your place here. \nThe intention of this program is not to eradicate the weed\, but to provide the community with assistance in putting a serious dent in some local populations\, and to create enough groundswell for control programs to continue for years to come. \nThis project is made possible through funding provided by the Department of Agriculture\, Water and the Environment under the Communities Combating Pests and Weeds Impacts During Drought Program. \nLCC is acting on behalf of the three Shires and is an independent\, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to sustainable\, long term environmental conservation across the Leschenault Catchment. \nQueries can be made to Nadia Howe at the LCC on 9791 4773 or Email: reception@leschenaultcc.org.au.
