SUMMARY:COLLIE TO DONNYBROOK AND RETURN CYCLE CLASSIC
DESCRIPTION:This race\, which began in 1925\, is the only true remaining handicap event in Western Australia. It is steeped in tradition and is the premier road race in the Western Australian cycling calendar. \nThe historic race begins in the Western Australian coal mining town of Collie\, 200km south of Perth\, and heads through hilly terrain towards Mumballup for 21km before turning and heading towards the township of Donnybrook. This is the halfway point. Riders then turn and return back to Mumballup. \nThe last 21 kilometres of the course is a torturous course through the hills to finish in the main street of Collie\, completing the 104 kilometre event. \nRace day includes a 56 kilometre support race\, participation rides (including a schools challenge) and a mountain bike event. \nThe event passes through some of the best countryside the south west of Western Australia has to offer and caters for all levels of riders. The day allows for past and present riders to catch up and enjoy the day and be part of an historic event.

SUMMARY:Bibbulmun Track 25th Anniversary
DESCRIPTION:BIBBULMUN TRACK 25TH ANNIVERSARY – Welcome the Walkers in Collie! \nThe Bibbulmun Track Foundation invites all locals\, volunteers and walkers to come along to a free community event on Wednesday 2nd August to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Bibbulmun Track. \nOver 300\,000 walks are taken on the Track each year\, from short day walks up to ten-week treks. Walkers spend over $13 million per annum on accommodation\, meals\, transport\, and supplies along the way. Much of this in the nine regional towns linked by the Track. \nNearly 100 people will take part in the walk between Kalamunda and Albany\, with different groups walking from town to town and a core group of ten walkers going the whole way. Additionally\, over 430 participants are taking part in a virtual hike along the Track and have already collectively walked over 53 million steps! \nThe Bibbulmun Track was named in recognition of the Bibbulmun people who were known to walk long distances to ceremonial gatherings and this historic journey from Kalamunda to Albany will take eight weeks with the walkers arriving at the Southern Terminus on Wednesday 13th September\, the day the Track was officially opened in 1998. \nFor more information about the 25th Anniversary visit: www.bibbulmuntrack.org.au or call (08) 9481 0551. \nThe 25th Anniversary Celebrations are kindly sponsored by Lotterywest and the Department of Local Government\, Sport\, and Cultural Industries.

SUMMARY:FREE Cyber Safety Information Session
DESCRIPTION:Concerned about identity theft\, scams and cybercrime? Learn how to protect yourself at one of IDCARE’s free community events \nConsumer Protection and IDCARE have joined forces to deliver 20 free community events called Cyber Resilience Outreach Clinics (CROC)\, with a focus on regional Western Australia to provide information to consumers on scams\, cybercrime and identity theft.   IDCARE has found Australians living in remote and regional communities are three times more likely to be impacted by cybercrime and scams than their city counterparts and experience higher financial losses.   WA locations were selected based on IDCARE data\, current geographical events\, such as the Kimberley floods\, and requests from the community. \nWestern Australians lost a record total of almost $16 million to scams in 2022. \n1\,203 Western Australians reported total scam losses of $15\,988\,513 to ScamNet in 2022\, an increase of $1\,196\,805 from the 1\,041 losses reported in 2021\, and a $4\,188\,513 increase from the 952 losses reported in 2020.  An Australian Competition and Consumer Commission survey has indicated approximately only 13 per cent of scam losses are reported to regulators. \nThis alarming data shows as scams have become more sophisticated\, more Western Australians are falling victim to them\, resulting in larger losses. It also highlights the importance of fostering awareness and resilience in the fight against cybercrimes\, scams and identity theft. \nIDCARE is Australia and New Zealand’s national identity and cyber incident community support service\, a not-for-profit and registered Australian charity.  The clinic will provide current information including: \n\nNational Monthly snapshot of Financial Losses for the Australian community per locality\, and what causes the highest financial losses.\nWhat the criminals are targeting\, and what do they do with it?\nScams calls\, texts and emails including examples of current scams.\nThe Professional Scammer – Psychology of a Scammer.\nRemote access\, data breaches and data breach notifications.\nThe keys to staying safe – physical\, technical and behavioural.\nIDCARE resources and how individuals can access free community support services.
