The Shire of Collie Secures AEDC Grant for Early Childhood Development Initiatives

The Shire of Collie is delighted to announce that it has successfully secured an Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) Grant from the Department of Communities. This significant funding will enable the Shire to work in collaboration with Investing in Our Youth to deliver the “Paint the Town REaD” program and re-establish the Collie Early Years Network.

The “Paint the Town REaD” program is an innovative initiative aimed at fostering early literacy and a love of reading among young children in the community. By creating a vibrant and engaging learning environment, the program seeks to give children a strong foundation for their educational journey.

In addition to the literacy program, the AEDC Grant will facilitate the re-establishment of the Collie Early Years Network. This network will play a crucial role in connecting families, educators, and service providers, ensuring that children in Collie have access to comprehensive early childhood support and resources.

A key component of these initiatives is the hiring of a local coordinator. The Shire of Collie and Investing in Our Youth are hopeful that a dedicated and passionate individual from the local community can be found to fill this role. The coordinator will be responsible for setting up and delivering both the “Paint the Town REaD” program and re-establishing the Collie Early Years Network.

Shire President, Cr. Ian Miffling, commented about the grant, stating, “This funding represents a significant investment in the future of our children. We are thrilled to bring these important programs to Collie and look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our community.”
