The Shire of Collie is seeking a motivated and suitably qualified Accountant to join our Corporate Services team. This role provides professional accounting support across financial reporting, statutory compliance, asset management and audit functions, ensuring Council meets its legislative and corporate obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and support financial reporting, budgeting and statutory compliance requirements
- Maintain accounting records, including reconciliations, cashflow, and asset registers
- Assist with audits, taxation obligations (BAS/FBT), and provide financial support across the organisation
The successful candidate will have strong accounting capability, excellent attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively in a small, results‑focused team. You will hold (or be working towards) accounting qualifications or equivalent experience, with BAS and FBT experience, strong communication and organisational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience in local government and knowledge of SynergySoft (or similar) is desirable.
An attractive remuneration package of up to $130,000 is offered for candidates residing in Collie, inclusive of a $5,000 per annum housing allowance, with a base cash salary of $100,000 per annum, plus additional benefits. Subsidised employee housing is available through the housing allowance, and a $2,000 per annum travel allowance applies for those residing outside of Collie. The package also includes 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading, 12% superannuation plus up to an additional 6% Council co-contribution (subject to matching employee contributions), along with access to professional development opportunities and a subsidised gym membership.
