The purpose of policy documents is to enable the effective and efficient management of Council resources, and to assist staff and Council to achieve an equitable decision making process.
Written policies also enable the community to be aware of the reasoning behind administrative and Council decisions; and to be familiar with the philosophy behind individual decisions.
A Policy Framework has been established by the Shire of Collie to organise policy documentation into groupings that reflect their role and function. The purpose of the Framework is to outline the agreed policy hierarchy for the Shire of Collie, enabling the various policies and procedures to be correctly prepared, understood and implemented. This Framework introduces a hierarchy where Council and Local Planning Policies are adopted by Council, with Management Policies and Procedures adopted by the CEO and Executive Management Team.
