The Shire of Collie is seeking a motivated and suitably experienced full-time Communications Officer to join our Office of the CEO. This role provides the Shire’s corporate communications and social media function, maintaining a consistent public voice and brand across social media, the website and published Council material, and supporting the CEO with communications and media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and respond to media, Facebook and other social media enquiries, draft media releases and post content to social media and the Shire website
- Produce the monthly Council page in the Bulletin and the Councillor Newsletter, and prepare Shire corporate reports and publications to endorsed branding standards
- Maintain corporate templates, notice boards and communications records in line with the State Records Act 2000 and the Privacy and Responsible Information Sharing Act 2024 (WA)
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a communications, media, marketing or public relations role, exceptional written communication skills and attention to detail, and proven experience using Facebook and other social media in a professional context. You will have advanced Microsoft Word and intermediate Excel skills, sound judgement and discretion when responding to public enquiries, and the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Local government experience and experience with Canva or website content management tools is desirable.
A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on skills and experience. The package includes 12% superannuation with up to an additional 6% Council co-contribution (subject to matching employee contributions), and 4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% leave loading, along with additional benefits.
